PRIDE IN OUR VALLEY – Directed by Roger Tiley
A documentary film following the lives of amazing people in a very close-knit community in the upper Dulais Valley, South Wales. A year in the making, personalities and characters come alive.
During the 1984/85 miners’ strike, a meeting of two extreme cultures came together to create a friendship that is as close today, as it was 35 years ago. Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners donated generous funds to support striking miners and their families in the Dulais Valley.
Coal mining has all but disappeared, with only a coal washery and open cast mine remaining. They are both due to close within the next 18 months. The community face an uncertain future, but residents stand strong. Their humour is priceless, with an underlying sadness and they fight on to make this area a very special place.
Pride in our Valley contains strong language and some sexual references. This film was made in partnership with Onllwyn Community Welfare Association.
